Pitt Meadows’ firefighters are asking the public to once again dig into their pockets to help support a worthy cause.

Members of Pitt Meadows Fire and Rescue Services will be collecting donations throughout the city on Saturday, Sept. 21 for its annual Fill the Boot campaign in support of muscular dystrophy.

All proceeds will go towards helping those living with muscular dystrophy

Brad Perrie, assistant fire chief in Pitt Meadows, said 24 members will be hitting the streets to help support this worthy cause.

“We’re out there donating our time,” said Perrie, “but it’s the good people of Pitt Meadows and Maple Ridge who deserve the credit. We couldn’t do any of this without their generosity.”

Firefighters will be canvassing for donations outside the Real Canadian Superstore and the B.C. Liquor Store at the  Meadowtown Centre Mall from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

They will also set up shop outside at the mall at the doors of the Cineplex Odeon Theatres from 8 to 9 p.m..

Another group of volunteers will be outside of the IGA and Starbucks at the MeadowVale Shopping Centre from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Once the sun goes down, firefighters will take their fundraising efforts to Samz Neighbourhood Pub and the Jolly Coachman from 9 to 10 p.m. and will finish off the day collecting donations at Roosters Country Cabaret from 10 p.m. to midnight.
