A Pitt Meadows actress has been nominated for a Canadian Screen Award for her role on the YTV network's 'The Popularity Papers'.
Mia Bella is up for the Best Lead Performer, Children's or Youth, for the television series about two best friends who are on a quest to discover how to become popular in their middle school.
Bella plays the role of Lydia Goldblatt in the television show, based on a series of books by author Amy Ignatow, that premiered in 2023.
There are four other nominations in her category: Jaelynn Thora Brooks and Veronika Slowikowska for their roles in the show 'Davey and Jonesie's Locker', Zoe Wiesenthal for the show 'Ruby and the Well', and Mia SwamiNathan for the show 'Wordsville'.
Bella has been very busy as of late, entering also into the music world with her first single called 'Just Wanna Dance', released in November, and 'Rise Up (Tragic.)' released this year.
"I've always loved music," said Bella. "Music was kind of my first passion. And then I got more into acting, and that just kind of became the path I took for a while, before being old enough to start making music and writing about real-life experiences," said the actress, noting that 'Just Wanna Dance' is about just letting go and living in the moment.
Bella added that she is currently exploring who she is as an artist and experimenting with her sound and style.
'Just Wanna Dance' is available on platforms like YouTube, Apple Music and Spotify and fans can find her music on all major streaming platforms.
The 2025 Canadian Screen Awards will be taking place from Friday, May 30, until Sunday, June 1.
