Pitt Meadows creates a winter wonderland for skaters

The holiday skating event took place at Pitt Meadows Arena

A Christmas tree lit up the middle of a rink at Pitt Meadows Arena Monday afternoon for a special Winter Wonderland public skate.

More than 50 skaters took to the ice for the annual event.

There were blow up Christmas decorations including a Santa Claus and a snowman, with Christmas lights strung along the plexiglass and the rafters above.

Beginners and expert skaters both took advantage of the ice time.

Bill Card, was teaching his son Waymon, 7, how to skate, along with other parents like Julianna Ravensbergen, who was there with her two daughters, Amelia, 6, and Esmay, 7.

Other children wearing Rustlers hockey jerseys flew around the rink.

The Winter Wonderland skate was held on Sunday, Dec. 22 and Monday, Dec. 23, at various times during the day.
