Vegetables are always the most popular, but there will be plenty of other varieties of plants available at the Pitt Meadows Garden Club's 21st annual plant sale.
Last year around 300 people attended the sale, said Ineke Boekhorst, one of two presidents of the garden club, who is hoping to see the same amount of people, if not more, at this years event.
The sale will feature everything from: annuals; perennials; herbs; all kinds of vegetable plants like tomatoes, beets, and peas; shrubs; small trees; flowering bushes for the sun and shade; flower baskets; and even cut flowers.
All at very reasonable prices, said Boekhorst.
There will also be a silent auction featuring 40 different items, all donated by local supporters and businesses.
Money raised will go towards: attracting interesting speakers for the club's monthly meetings; rent for the monthly meeting space; and small garden tours over the summer months that the club subsidizes for members.
The plant sale takes place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 10, at the Community Church Hall, at the corner of Harris and Ford Roads in Pitt Meadows.
Boekhorst said the club is always looking for new members.
They get together every third Monday of each month from 7-9 p.m. at the Community Church Hall, to discuss how everybody's gardens are doing, to exchange garden tips, to meet with interesting people who share the same interest; and have a coffee and some treats.
"But most of all learn from our monthly speakers, about many different topics, such as bees, pollinator gardens, pruning, roses, greenhouse gardening and many other topics," said Boekhorst.
