Plenty of ‘Eggs-cellent’ things to do this Easter weekend in Maple Ridge, Pitt Meadows

(THE NEWS/files) There will be something to do for everyone this Easter weekend.

There is plenty ‘hop-pening’ around town this Easter.

At the ACT Arts Centre in Maple Ridge, there will be a new indoors Easter Activity celebration. Seven activity stations will be set up, including a photo stage and Easter goodies, paper Easter basket making, face-painted whiskers, bunny-ear headbands, an activity showcase, creative poems and dancing.

The event takes place from 1-3 p.m. on Apr. 1 at 11944 Haney Place and is $5 per child. It is available on a first come, first serve basis with a maximum of 20 children. Money is going towards youth scholarships. For more information, call 604-476-2787.

The annual Pitt Meadows Easter Celebration is always a big draw. This year’s free family fun event runs from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Apr. 1 at Harris Road Park. Festivities will include an Easter egg hunt, an Easter bunny for families to take photos with, face painting, arts and crafts, cookie decorating, pony rides, horsey hops, bunny hop races, coffee and hot chocolate with a reminder to reduce waste by bringing your own reusable mug and goodie bags.

Golden Ears Cheesecrafters will be holding its second annual Easter Extravaganza. The event runs from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Mar. 31 and Apr. 1 and costs $2 per person over 2-years plus $7.50 per child to participate in any of the Easter egg hunts. There will also be a wander pop-up market, tasty treats, Easter entertainment, a petting zoo, an Easter bunny and face painting. To pre-register a child for the hunts and for hunt times go to cheesecrafters.ca.

The Maple Ridge branch of the B.C. SPCA will be holding its third annual Easter egg hunt from noon to 3 p.m. on Apr. 1 at 10235 Jackson Rd. by donation. The event will include live music, free pizza and drinks, a bouncy castle and Easter egg hunt with prizes for every child. There will be a candy bar and a live D.J.

You will be able to get your photo taken with an Easter bunny mascot for a small fee. There will also be door prizes for the adults. All money raised will go directly back to the Maple Ridge branch of the SPCA.

The Whonnock Lake Easter Egg Hunt will be on Apr. 1, at the Whonnock Lake Centre, 27871 113 Ave. in Maple Ridge.
