Program to teach seniors conflict resolution skills

Ridge Meadows Seniors’ Society is offering a facilitator training program.

Ridge Meadows Seniors’ Society is offering a facilitator training program to teach seniors who are still in the workforce valuable communication and conflict resolution skills.

The program runs Friday and Saturday, Sept. 23 and 24.

Running the program will be Carolynne Errico and Jim Skinner, both of whom are trained in the Adlerian psychological approach. Their program will provide an engaging format using the Adlarian approach to encourage the participants to interact and learn.

This program is funded by the Government of Canada under the New Horizons for Seniors Initiative. A group of seniors underwent the program this past spring. They were trained to take a leadership role as facilitators and learn communication skills. They found the course to be enlightening and enjoyable, according to Bonny Klovance of the Ridge Meadows Seniors’ Society.

“I came into this course assuming I would learn about the role of a facilitator, which I did, and I also learned about dealing with conflict in every day life,” stated one of the program’s participants.
