A grassroots initiative that provides high school graduates in need with formal attire, so they can attend their grad festivities with pride, is mobilizing for the grad class of 2022 in Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows.

Puttin’ on the Glitz is organized by the PLEA Community Services Society, Maple Ridge-Pitt Meadows School District and their community partners, who are hosting the 12th annual grad event again this year.

They are seeking gently used grad outfits – gowns, suits, tuxedos, dress shoes, jewelry and accessories – as well as donations of services such as dry cleaning, alterations, movers, food vendors and more.

Without this kind of assistance, there are many students who could simply not afford to participate in the celebration of this milestone in their life.

Anyone who knows a grad that might like some support can make a referral through any SD42 high school counsellor.

Anyone who would like to get involved can email mchrak@plea.bc.ca.
