Maple Ridge firefighter Kevin Mikoda lets Tanner Irvine, 6, pick out a candy cane after his donation to the annual Firefighters for Families Food Drive outside Safeway in <aple Ridge on Saturday. Members of the Maple Ridge department held out their boots for donations of money, toys and non-perishable food items as part of the annual charity event. They collected from  10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at grocery stores in Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows. All donations go to the Friends in Need Food Bank.
