The Arts Club Theatre Company is bringing a touching comical romance to stage in Maple Ridge.

'Someone Like You', by playwright Christine Quintana, is a story about Kristin, who is looking for love on the rebound, and her best friend Isabelle, who takes her 'wingman' duties a bit too far.

"We have filled this production with love, because the world needs stories that make us laugh, that make us draw closer to the people in our lives, and that reflect back a world where we, too, are loved," said Quintana in a statement about the show.

'Someone Like You' was developed through the Arts Club’s Silver Commissions program, which provides funding to complete new plays, fostering the development of a total of 38 new plays by local playwrights.

Starring Steffanie Davis as Kristin, Jasmine Chen as Isabelle, and Praneet Akilla as the love interest, Harjit, and directed by Jivesh Parasram, the production is described as a dive into 21st-century Vancouver with millennial manifestos, dating apps, and a quest for self-love.

The show is estimated to run two hours, plus a 20 minute intermission.

Tickets start at $29 plus fees.

'Someone Like You' will be at the Mainstage Theatre at the ACT Arts Centre, 11044 Haney Place, downtown Maple Ridge, at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 8, and at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 9.
