Registration is now open for an annual walk in support of those experiencing homelessness in the community.
The Coldest Night of the Year in Maple Ridge has seven teams registered to take part, so far, and 13 walkers.
Food for the Soul Project – a registered, non-profit organization based in Maple Ridge and Abbotsford, dedicated to helping the community by supporting those who are unhoused, those affected by opioid use, and poverty – is hosting the event.
The fundraising goal this year is $27,000.
There is choice between a two kilometre and a five kilometre route.
The walk takes place Saturday, Feb. 22, starting at Food for the Soul Project at 22155 Lougheed Hwy., Maple Ridge. Walkers are invited to start showing up at 4 p.m. to check-in. At 5 p.m. the walk begins and will only take about an hour.
Children 12 years and under must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times and no pets are allowed.
A light meal will be served following the event.
