The North Fraser Therapeutic Riding Association has received the first of four $7,500 installments of a $30,000 grant from the Ridge Meadows Hospital Foundation.
The purpose of the grants is to revitalize the riding association’s volunteer and recruitment coordination program, and to create a sustainable volunteer training program.
Each week, NFTRA provides therapeutic horseback riding lessons to 85 disabled riders with the assistance of 70 volunteers.
To ensure the safety of riders and volunteers, training and recruitment is critical.
The Ridge Meadows Hospital Foundation grant ensures that all volunteers will receive the training and support they need to work with riders in the program.
“NFTRA extends its most heartfelt gratitude to the Hospital Foundation,” said Gay Conn, general manager of NFTRA. “We depend upon grants such as this to provide our unique and extremely beneficial therapy.”
