For the seventh straight year, the owners of Whonnock Roofing stocked the shelves at the Friends in Need Food Bank.

Each year brothers Clay and Abraham Gagnon have donated approximately $4,000 to $5,000 to the charity, and this year two roofing crews of five each spent Friday morning at Save-On foods shopping and loading bins with groceries.

Whonnock Roofing  wrote a cheque for $5,208.

Clayton Gagnon said they know people who relied on the food bank in their time of need, so they chose it as the cause they would support. They brought their seven children to help shop, and wheel the bins laden with food from the grocery store to the food bank.

“We’re just looking for a way to give back to the community,” he said.

Lynda Lawrence of the food bank said Whonnock Roofing has become the food bank’s biggest donor, and comes at a time when the food bank faces its highest demand.

“This is keeping the warehouse full,” she said.
