Nominations are open for the SD42 DPAC Longtime Parent Volunteer Service Awards.

Nominations are open to honour longtime parent volunteers in the Maple Ridge Pitt Meadows School District who will be graduating out of the school system this year.

Nominees don't have to be members of the PAC executive, but a parent who has been actively involved in the school community, volunteering, and helping out.

This could mean being a hot lunch organizer, a bottle drive volunteer, a fierce child advocate, a carnival and shopping night coordinator, library and book fair volunteer, or a late night fundraiser planner.

"We encourage each PAC to recognize those parents who have not only contributed and participated in Executive and/or Committee Roles but participanted in a broad range of activities supporting K-12 public education," said a letter sent to the secondary school PAC by the SD42 DPAC.

Awards will be handed out at the annual general meeting on June 19.

Every parent whose youngest child will be graduating Grade 12 this year is eligible to be nominated for the Longtime Parent Volunteer Service Award.

Nominations should be emailed to:sd42dpac@gmail.com

Each nomination should include a brief note on the nominee's history as a volunteer parent that the DPAC can share.

The deadline for nominations is by 6 p.m. on Monday, May 26.

DPAC representatives who would like to participate in the selection process are invited to email as well.

The selection of those receiving an award will be made Monday, June 2, although all nominees will be acknowledged.
