The Ridge Meadows Recycling Society wants to remind Maple Ridge residents that the spring brush chipping program is quickly coming up.
Residents who live in single family homes west of 224 Street must have their branches out on the roadside, adjacent to their property, no later than Monday, March 25, and those living east of 224 Street must have them out before Monday, April 15. Branches must not be put out more than three weeks in advance.
The program includes pick up and disposal of tree and shrub branches up to a total volume of three cubic meters. Branches may be up to six inches in diameter.
Chippers will be instructed to spend no more than 20 minutes at each household.
The purpose of the program is to provide an alternative to burning these yard wastes.
Crews will not pick up: construction waste; building materials; stumps; leaves; branches with thorns like those of rose bushes, blackberries, or holly; vines including willow branches; bamboo; root balls; grasses; or household waste.
Neither will crews pick up piles exceeding the volume limit.

Residents who have more volume, or miss the set-out deadlines, can take it to the green waste area at Metro Vancouver’s Maple Ridge Recycling & Waste Centre for Garbage, Green Waste, Mattress, & Gypsum (Drywall) Drop-off located next to the Recycling Depot at 10092 236th Street, Maple Ridge. Green waste tipping fees will apply.

“Please note the set-out dates are when brush chipping begins in each area, but it will take around two weeks to pick up all the piles in each area, depending on the amount that is set out,” said the recycling society.
