Superintendent of SD42 congratulates the grads of 2024

More than 1,400 students received their dogwood diplomas in the Maple Ridge Pitt Meadows School District

The SD42 superintendent of schools is congratulating all the graduates in the school district for their remarkable achievements. 

More than 1,400 Grade 12 students enrolled in various graduation programs across the district have received their Dogwood diplomas at their graduation ceremonies. 

In addition to Grade 12 students celebrating the completion of high school, students at Ridge Meadows College also celebrated the completion of various vocational programs like the Education Assistant program, Early Childhood Educator program, and Business Service Worker program. 

Graduation ceremonies started on Thursday, June 6 and wrapped up on Tuesday, June 25. and were organized at 10 different educational campuses – and included the district's six secondary schools, Connex, ReConnex, Continuing Education, and Ridge Meadows College. 

Thomas Haney grads had their ceremony at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre in Vancouver on June 6; Maple Ridge Secondary had their ceremony at the Chandos Pattison Auditorium in Surrey on June 7; Garibaldi had their ceremony at Chandos in Surrey on June 10; Westview Secondary had their ceremony at Chandos on June 11; Ridge Meadows College had their ceremony at the Riverside Centre on June 12; Continuing Education had theirs at the Riverside Centre on June 13; ReConnex had theirs at the Riverside Centre on June 13; Samuel Robertson Technical had theirs at Chandos in Surrey on June 18; Connex had theirs on June 21 at the ACT Arts Centre in Maple Ridge; and finally Pitt Meadows Secondary had theirs on June 25 at Chandos in Surrey.

"I am so proud of the work our graduates have done and the resilience, dedication and spirit they have shown to get to this point in their academic journeys," said Downs.

"As they step into this exciting new chapter of their lives, I have every confidence that they will take what they have learned here and continue to embrace opportunities, overcome obstacles, and make a profound impact on the world. We are so proud to have been part of their educational journey and we look forward to seeing the incredible heights they reach," added the SD42 superintendent.
