Jason O’Connell embarks on a two-day trek to conquer cancer next month.

As he pedals from Vancouver to Seattle, he’ll be thinking of his sister Krista.

“I would like to see this disease come to an end,” says O’Connell, who is the son of Pitt Meadows Coun. Gwen O’Connell.

“My sister left behind two beautiful girls and a great husband. I would like to do my part in making sure no one else has to go through this.”

Krista lost her battle to cancer on April 1, 2002.

Her brother has pledged to raise $2,500 and he’s almost reached his goal.

Funds raised in The Ride to Conquer Cancer will support breakthrough research, exemplary teaching, and compassionate care made possible through B.C. Cancer Foundation, a leader in cancer research and care.

The Ride to Conquer Cancer takes place June 18 and 19.
