A search for contestants is taking place for a fundraiser benefiting the Maple Ridge Community Foundation.
Dancing in the Ridge is a community dance competition hosted by the foundation to support the Community Chest Program, a program that gives money to those in need in the community to help them through an emergency, whether that be rent to avoid eviction, or financial help through a medical procedure, or other need.
The foundation says that there is no dance experience necessary for this competition. But that it is a chance to team up with friends, family, or colleagues to let your talents shine on stage. Representatives from partner dance studios will guide contestants in creating a show-stopping routine.
"Don’t miss out on this exciting opportunity to give back while having a blast," said the foundation online.
The Maple Ridge Community Foundation is dedicated to improving the quality of life for everyone who lives in Maple Ridge. Formed in 1976, the foundation has awarded more than $1 million in grants to local charities that provide essential services, enhance public spaces, and create opportunities for growth.
One of their key initiatives is the Maple Ridge Community Chest, which offers direct financial aid to families and individuals facing tough times, including money for a hardworking father who was able to keep his job with a new pair of steel-toed boots.
Events hosted by the foundation include: Community FORE Charity Golf Tournament; Citizen of the Year Awards; and Dancing in the Ridge.
