It was a wet Pitt Meadows Day on Saturday as some light rain cast a mist over the citizens who showed up for the annual parade, with many then getting even more drenched by the traditional water fight with members of Pitt Meadows Fire and Rescue.

There was quite a mix of old and new at this year’s Pitt Meadows Day, with many first-time additions such as the new parade route, the switch to Pitt Meadows Athletic Park, and replacing the fireworks with a drone show.

However, many elements of past Pitt Meadows Day celebrations were still present, such as the naming of the Youth Ambassadors, with 11-year-old Kasra being declared the 2024 Youth Ambassador for the city. This was a big transition for Kasra, who spent last year serving as the medallion bearer.
“I applied this year because last year I got to do a lot of fun and interesting activities such as being part of the Pitt Meadows parade for the first time,” said Kasra.
Pitt Meadows Mayor Nicole MacDonald was one of many local dignitaries to take to the stage and welcome the large crowd to the 83rd annual Pitt Meadows Day.
“People are what makes our community truly special, and this is an opportunity to bring all of our neighbours together – those from Pitt Meadows and those visiting from other cities,” said Mayor MacDonald.
“It is so wonderful to see everyone here and I hope you all have an opportunity to enjoy everything your heart desires.”
The winning floats from the parade were also announced across a variety of categories.
