An afternoon of opera and Art Song is being presented by the Maple Ridge Music Society.

Soprano Stella Chen-Rozek, baritone Andrew Greenwood and Krystyna Tucka on piano will be giving a concert at Westacres, a 20 acre farm close to the centre of Maple Ridge. The music room at Westacres holds around 140 seats and looks out onto a beaver pond surrounded by large cedar trees.

All three of these internationally performing musicians call Maple Ridge Home.

Chen-Rozek grew up in China and graduated from the China Conservatory of Music in 2005. She continued her studies at the Vancouver Academy of Music, studying with renowned voice teacher David Meek and in Norway with Randi Stene. Chen-Rozek made her Canadian debut as a soloist at the Koerner Recital Hall and is currently teaching at the British Columbia Conservatory of Music in Vancouver and pursuing a career in the performance of Art Songs and operatic concert repertoire.

Greenwood’s recent Canadian operatic performances include Zuniga in Carmen, Monterone in Rigoletto, King Alonso in Hoiby’s The Tempest, Douphol in La traviata and The Doctor in Vanessa with Pacific Opera in Victoria, to name a few. He has appeared in opera companies across the Lower Mainland including Opera Breve, Western Concert Opera and Modern Baroque Opera.

Krystyna Tucka was born in Poland and completed her post-graduate study at L’Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris Alfred Cortot. She also studied at The Vancouver Academy of Music under professor Lee Kum Sing. She is the first prize winner of the 1998 Eckhardt-Gramatté Music Competition in Canada and has won numerous national competitions in Poland. She was also a finalist of the Fourth International F. Chopin Piano Competition in Darmstadt, Germany. Tucka has performed concerts and recitals throughout Europe, Africa and North America .

The concert takes place at 2:30 p.m. on Mar. 4 at 23575 124 Ave. in Maple Ridge.

Tickets are $35 for adults and $15 for students.
