The Arts Centre and Theatre is celebrating its 10th anniversary in style with more than 25 productions and events for 2012/13.

The Maple Ridge Pitt Meadows Arts Council operates the The ACT, and is a non-profit society dedicated to brining arts to the heart of our community. The arts council has been building vibrant arts and culture in the region and providing excellence in artistic presentations, community engagement, and customer and member services.

The season begins with Secrets by Maple Ridge resident and world-renowned magician, Shawn Farquhar on Saturday, Sept. 29. Also that day will be the Canada Culture Day Celebrations, which take place from 1 to 4 p.m.

Among the musical highlights for this season are 54.40, Memories with Dal Richards, B.C. Beats with Andrew Allen, Laurell Barker, and Stef Lang, plus Canadian greats The Lost Fingers, Jason McCoy’s The Perfect Gift, and Winter Harp.

Making the journey from abroad will be the Vienna Boys Choir and Celtic Crossroads.

Family events include Monster Theatre’s Chirstmas Carol, and from Quebec comes The Studio, a remarkable dance and visual arts presentation for young audiences. The season ends with Charles Ross’ famed One Man Star Wars Trilogy, which will be part of the May 2013 Youth Arts Week.

Audiences won’t want to miss, all the way from China, Cirque Ziva from the internationally renowned Golden Dragon Acrobats. With breathtaking skill and spellbinding beauty, this performance features a large cast contortionists, tumblers and jugglers who take on plate-spinning, bicycle pagoda, and work with everything from balls to umbrellas using not only hands, but also feet.

The arts council is also partnering up with the Toronto International Film Circuit to present the Golden Ears Film Series, and with Vancouver’s Arts Club to present three of their touring productions.
