Artists from across the province are invited to apply for the 2017 Ambassador and Awards Program for B.C. Culture Days.

The Culture Days Ambassador acts as a spokesperson for B.C. Culture Days and will be a community mobilizer leading up to Culture Days weekend at the end of September.

Culture Days is a national celebration of arts, culture and heritage, during which the public has the opportunity to take part in hands-on and interactive arts and cultural activities for the whole family.

There were 658 free activities at last years event in 60 communities across British Columbia.

Ambassadors are involved with outreach to artists and cultural organizations, public promotion, the production of Culture Days activities, as well as being a spokesperson.

Applicants must be individual artists, either amateur or professional, residing in B.C., available during the months of August and September and able to present an activity over the Culture Days weekend.

Applicants are also required to have strong communication skills, comfort using social media and previous community engagement experience.

• Application forms can be found at BC.CultureDays.ca. Submissions will be juried by members of the B.C. Culture Days Steering Committee. Winners will be awarded $1,000 towards their role as an ambassador in their community.

Deadline for applications is March 31, 2017.
