The Fraser Valley Symphony’s final concert of the season will feature an award winning pianist from Mission.
Paul Williamson will be performing music from Ludwig van Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 4 along with Antonín Dvorak’s Symphony No. 8.
Williamson studies piano performance in the Bachelor of Music program at the University of Manitoba.
He has won multiple local, provincial and national competitions including first place in the B.C. Registered Music Teachers’ Association Piano Competition and showcased in the B.C. Young Artists 2012-2013 tour.
In his first year of studies he also won his school’s concerto competition and received first place in the Lawrence Genser Scholarship competition.
He has been a soloist with the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra, the University of Manitoba Symphony Orchestra, the Abbotsford Youth Orchestra and the Fraser Valley Symphony Orchestra.
This is the Fraser Valley Symphony’s 33rd year.
The concert takes place June 11 at the Matsqui Centennial Auditorium, 32315 South Fraser Way in Abbotsford.
Doors open at 2:30 p.m. and tickets are $20 for adults, $15 for seniors and students and $5 for children.
