Local classical pianist Carter Johnson will be performing at Westacres.
Johnson who was born on Vancouver Island but who now lives in Maple Ridge will be performing with violinist Gregory Lewis a special recital of French music.
Johnson has established a formidable solo career in competitions like the Julia Crane International Competition, the OSM Manulife Competition and the Hilton Head International Competition.
In June Johnson will be travelling to China to compete in the Shenzhen International Piano Competition.
Lewis, a native of Thunder Bay, Ont. has established himself as one of central Canada’s most prominent rising musicians.
He is in demand across Canada as a concertmaster and has soloed with the Winnipeg, Thunder Bay and Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony Orchestras.
He has also been a finalist and prize-winner in many national and international competitions.
The concert at Westacres will include works by Maurice Ravel, César Franck, Claude Debussy and Camille Saint-Saëns.
The intimate music room holds 140 seats and looks out onto a beaver pond, surrounded by large cedar trees.
