If you love food and grow a garden or are thinking about starting one, you might want to check out Gardens of Destiny, a free documentary screening on Thursday in Maple Ridge.
The event is being hosted by the Society for Organic Urban Land Care (SOUL).
Gardens of Destiny follows Dan Jason of Salt Spring Seeds around his amazingly diverse farm.
It explores the seemingly unsustainable agriculture system, which most of us rely on, while inspiring solutions such as organically grown food and saving your own seeds.
Genevieve Beaupre with SOUL-Ridge Meadows says the idea behind screening this film is to raise awareness about where our food is coming from and all the fun things that can be done to prevent our natural diversity from being lost forever.
Seed saving is a big part of this, so SOUL Ridge Meadows plans on teaching people how to properly save seeds in fall.
The group is also involved with the operation of Gaia College, which runs several courses in Maple Ridge ncluding one for organic master gardeners.
