Kids at Maple Ridge's Kanaka Creek Elementary celebrate holidays

Numerous school events being held to celebrate Christmas and support local charities

The Kindergarten/Grade 1 class at Kanaka Creek Elementary school held a concert on their last day of school before the holiday break, on Dec. 6.

Parents were getting lots of photographs of kids dressed as elves, trees and Santa, while the kids waved from their places in the choir, made hearts with their hands, and smiled and posed for their pictures.

Kanaka is on an alternate school calendar, with days off being balanced throughout the year. For the rest of the Maple Ridge-Pitt Meadows School District, the last day before the winter break will be Friday, Dec. 20, with the break running until schools reopen on Monday, Jan. 6.
