His days of stopping pucks for the Vancouver Canucks are behind him, and now the artist formerly known as 'King' Richard Brodeur is creating nostalgic hockey scenes with a paint brush.
An art exhibition called 'The King and the Artist' opens this Saturday, May 10 at the Pitt Meadows Art Gallery (PMAG), located on the main floor of the South Bonson Community Centre. There will be an opening reception starting at 4 p.m.
There will also be an evening with Richard Brodeur on May 12 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. To register for this free event (ID#14075) visit hpittfitandfun.ca or call 604-465-2452.
The exhibit will be featured until June 22.
The retired goaltender achieved royal status in Vancouver during the Canucks run to the Stanley Cup finals in 1982. He was with the Canucks from 1980 until 1987, and now lives in Nanoose Bay.
Through the years, Brodeur developed a passion for painting. His collection features bold, contemporary works capturing the beauty of Canadian landscapes, and his folk-art style depicts memories of growing up playing outdoor hockey in Quebec.
