Music on the Wharf will bring local talent to the Port Haney waterfront on Monday, July 8, for the first of four concerts this summer.
This series has been running at the Port Haney Wharf every years since 1997, under the auspices of the Maple Ridge Historical society. The concerts are free to the public, but donations are welcomed to help cover the costs.
The first will be July 8, at 7:30 p.m., when Luc LeMans will bring a "on-man party band." He has played numerous events and festivals in Vancouver.
July 22 will bring Teresa Marie and the Three, a jazz quartet that brings "soulful interpretations of music from the Great American Songbook tradition." The concert starts at 7:30 p.m.
Aug. 12, at 7:30 p.m., brings Niki Kennedy, who is a Vancouver-based singer, songwriter, and musician who brings folk, soul, and pop. Her recent releases have landed her multiple appearances on television and radio, and songwriting recognition as a finalist in the John Lennon Songwriting Contest.
The final concert will be Aug. 26, at 7 p.m., with the Duane Watson Band performing. They are a Maple Ridge band that was established five years ago, playing Canadiana. Watson plays guitar and provides vocals, and is joined by Willy B. Sober on lead guitar and vocals, Russell Engelland on drums, and Ron Johnson playing bass and singing.
