Hip hop dancer Ryan Morrisette was honoured last week at the first Cultural Architect Awards in Vancouver for his contribution to the dance community.

The award ceremony was created to inspire, educate and reveal the beauty of dance and art.

An instructor at DanceFX, Morrisette was recognized for his “exemplary attitude and influence within and outside his community.”

The 20-year-old is a world champion hip hop dancer who has cystic fibrosis. He dances with Freshh, a crew who were crowned Canadian National Hip Hop champs and Hip Hop International grand finalists in 2011.

Morrisette will represent Canada at the World Hip Hop championships in Germany this year as an assistant captain to the team.
