Award-winning actors from Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows are starring in the Surrey Little Theatre’s upcoming production of Night Watch.

Pitt Meadows actor Grant Vlahovic previously won for best actor in a supporting role at the Fraser Valley Zone Festival in 2011 for the Surrey Little Theatre production of Murder of Crows, and John Wheeler, also from Pitt Meadows, won for best actor in a leading role at the Fraser Valley Zone Festival in 2016 and also best actor in a leading role at the Community Theatre Coalition awards in the same year both fo the comany’s production of Home Child.

Both Brian Johnston and Sam Hoke of Maple Ridge won CTC best actor awards for Langley Players productions of God of Carnage in 2013 and Parent’s Night and The Bigger Issue in 2017.

Night Watch is a psychological thriller with a comedic vibe written by Lucille Fletcher, best known for her Twilight Zone episode, The Hitch-Hiker, and directed by Lance Peverley.

The story is about a woman who once suffered a nervous breakdown following the death of her first husband and who feels haunted still, expecially after her report of a murder victim across from her upscale home is quickly dismissed by investigators. Did she actually see a dead man or is she a victim of extreme gaslighting, psychological manipulation intended to make a victim question their own sanity, will be exposed in the final seconds of this, “taut, tense mystery.”

This is Peverley’s second foray into theatre. His first was Twelve Angry Men in 2017.

“There are two types of stories that give me chills,” said Peverley.

“Those shared by cinematic master of suspense Alfred Hitchcock, and those presented with a twist by Twilight Zone creator Rod Serling,” he noted.

“Given the white-knuckled, whodunnit conclusion – not to mention our stellar cast of characters, led by Mahara Sinclaire and Grant Vlahovic – you just might want to see it twice to spot all the clues,” added Peverley.

Night Watch runs from Jan. 24 to Feb. 23, at 8 p.m. Thursdays to Saturdays, at Surrey Little Theatre, 7027 184th Steet.

Three Sunday matinees will take place at 2 p.m. on Feb. 3, 10 and 17.

Tickets for the Jan. 24 and 25 performances are only $10 each.
