Whonnock Weavers hold open house this Sunday

Hand-woven blankets, capes, jackets, scarves, shawls, towels, rugs, and many other items for sale at the event

Fabric arts will be on display this weekend as the Whonnock Weavers and Spinners Guild will be hosting its 32nd annual open house this Sunday at the Whonnock Lake Centre from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Guild members have worked all year to produce one of a kind hand-spun, hand-woven, hand-knitted, dyed and felted crafts, just in time for the Christmas shopping season.

There will be hand-woven blankets, capes, jackets, scarves, shawls, towels, rugs, and many other items for sale at the event, as well as felted pieces, such as bags, hats, cat toys, Christmas tree decorations, mittens, slippers, socks, and sweaters suitable to put under a lucky recipient’s tree.

There will be an abundance of skeins of handspun yarns in both familiar and exotic fibres to delight your senses and spur you on to creating your own treasure.

Some of the guild members will be demonstrating spinning, carding, felting and basket weaving through out the day.

The guild also includes a number of expert basket weavers, who will also be selling their wares. Several guest artists have joined the open house this year to offer woodwork, glass art, and pottery.
