Campaign signs were quick to go up throughout Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows ahead of the 2024 provincial election.

While neighbour communities have seen some last minute names added to the election roster, the local ridings have remained relatively unchanged in recent days.

There are three candidates running on the Maple Ridge East ballot. That includes incumbent BC NDP candidate Bob D'Eith. His rivals in this election are officially Conservative Party's Lawrence Mok and recently announced BC Green Party hopeful Kylee WIlliams.

As for the Maple Ridge-Pitt Meadows riding, it's a smaller race, with only two seeking to be MLA.

On that ballot, voters will be able to pick between incumbent BC NDP candidate Lisa Beare, and Conservative Party's Mike Morden.

The final list of candidates for the 2024 Provincial election were released Saturday evening on the Elections BC website.

Candidate nominations closed at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 28, marking the end of the period in which eligible individuals could apply to be a candidate in the election.

There are 323 candidates for the election, with 269 representing seven political parties, and 54 candidates running as independent or unaffiliated. That breaks down to 69 running for the BC Green Party, 93 for the BC NDP, two for the Christian Heritage Party of B.C., three for the Communist Party of BC, 93 for the Conservative Party, five for the Freedom Party of B.C., and four for the Libertarians.
