For the better part of the next two months this summer, a group of local artists will have their work hanging in The ACT.
The Garibaldi Art Club’s juried show and sale at The ACT's art gallery brings together a selection of the best and most recent works created by the club's members. And this time around, there are 50 paintings on display.
The exhibition theme and title, Journeys, encompasses both the physical experience of travel and the emotional process of growth and self-discovery, said club president Diane Speirs.
"Each artist has chronicled the passage of time and the path of their life in their own unique style. The artworks in this exhibition reflect these personal stories which have been grouped together to form a visual narrative that evokes both travel and transformation," she elaborated.
The exhibition was launched this past weekend with an opening reception on Saturday afternoon, and now carries on through until June 28 at The ACT Art Gallery, 11944 Haney Pl.
"We had a very successful opening day, and we wish to thank everyone who came out to support the wonderful talent in our club," said Speirs.
And for those who didn't make it out to the opening, she extended an invite: "Hope you'll stop by and enjoy the wonderful paintings by our Garibaldi Art Club artists."
The gallery is open Tuesdays to Saturdays, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is free.
Formed in 1959, the Maple Ridge arts club brings together emerging and professional artists to share inspiration and creativity primarily in the medium of paint. With a current membership of 74 artists, the group exhibits artworks several times each year throughout the Lower Mainland.
