Maple Ridge talent behind Langley production of "Sister Act"

Powerful gospel music and dynamic dance numbers make "Sister Act: The Musical" a must-see

A disco diva disguised as a nun breathes new live into the convent choir in the latest Theatre In The Country production. 

"Sister ACT: The Musical" is based on the 1992 film starring Whoopi Goldberg, who played Deloris Van Cartier, a lounge singer put into protective custody at a convent after witnessing a crime.

Theatre In The Country will be showcasing local talent in the comedy with heartwarming performances of powerful gospel music, dynamic dance numbers, along with a story of unexpetected sisterhood. 

"Audiences can expect vibrant choreography, soulful singing, and a cast that brings authenticity and passion to the stage," said Theatre In The Country artistic director Reg Parks, noting that technical director Graham Coates; lighting designer Alex House; and QLab Operator Kevin An, are all from Maple Ridge.

Directed by Lauren Trotzuk, the musical features original songs by Tony and Oscar winner Alan Menken, with lyrics by Glenn Slater and a book by Cheri and Bill Steinkellner.

"Sister Act: The Musical" runs from June 4 to 21, at 5708 Glover Road in Langley City. 
Attendees have the option to enjoy the show as part of the theatre's renowned dinner theatre experience or as a theatre-only performance.

While the venue is not fully licensed for alcohol sales, bar service is available on opening and closing nights, as well as during Fine Wine Fridays.
Doors open at 6 p.m. for dinner and then at 6:30 p.m. for the 7 p.m. show.
