Local residents will have the opportunity to see this year’s Oscar winning documentary at a special showing at a Pitt Meadows cinema this week.
Cinema Politica Ridge Meadows and Maple Ridge Friends for Peace are bringing in "No Other Land," to show at the Hollywood 3 on Thursday, May 8.
Doors open at 6:30, and the film begins at 7 p.m.
Admission is free, but donations are welcome, said Oosha Ramsoondar of Cinema Politica Ridge Meadows.
“We are so proud to be hosting the screening of this award winning film,” she said.
“We encourage people to attend to see what life is like for ordinary Palestinians under Israeli occupation.”The film was recorded from 2019 to 2023, and shows the destruction of a Palestinian community in the West Bank, whose citizens had been resisting forced displacement.
"No Other Land" was produced by a collective of Palestinian and Israeli activists.
The film has won many major awards, including best documentary film at the most recent Academy Awards in March 2025.
