Pride in the Park is back for another fun-filled day in Memorial Peace Park.
The free event which celebrates the 2SLGBTQ+ community, is expected to take over the park with activities for the entire family.
David C. Jones will be emceeing the event, with music provided by DJ Kwaz.
Four performers will grace the stage at the bandstand:
• Canada's Drag Race contestant Jaylene Tyme;
• Taylor Swift impersonator Carrie Dawn;
• Vancouver's Next Drag Superstar 2020 and Vancouver's Eastside Drag Phenomenon 2019 Kara Juku;
• and Vancouver drag performer Margaux Rita.
The inaugural Pride in the Park in Maple Ridge took place in 2016 as a way to bring Pride festivities closer to local youth who participate in 2SLGBTQIA+ youth services in Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows.
These services include: Our Generation-Out group which is a free, confidential and voluntary support group for youth aged 14 to 18 years who are exploring gender and sexuality; and the Our youth TransSupport group, which is a free, confidential and voluntary support group for transgender youth aged 15 years and under.
Both groups provide a safe, positive and supportive space for youth to regularly meet and spend time together.
It costs around $2,000 to throw the event every year.

Pride in the Park takes place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 14, in Memorial Peace Park, along 224 Street between Dewdney Trunk Road and Lougheed Highway.
