The sun was out, and so were big crowds for Pitt Meadows Day 2025, the 84th annual community festival,
An estimated 12,500 spectators lined the parade route along Harris, Hammond and Bonson Roads for the city's signature summertime event. Kids high-fived with Star Wars characters, took candy from politicians, and sprayed firefighters and other emergency responders with their water guns, as part of the annual community waterfight.
The parade ended at the Pitt Meadows Athletic Park where there was stage entertainment, cool adult beverages, and lots of bouncey castles and other games for kids.
“Pitt Meadows Day continues to be an incredible celebration of community spirit, and this year’s 84th annual event was no exception," said Mayor Nicole MacDonald." From the joyful energy of the parade to the live music, family activities and always-popular pancake breakfast, it was a fantastic day that brought neighbours and friends together."
The community breakfast was rediscovered this year, as there were 280 people who started their day at the Lions Club pancake breakfast, which was way up from 60 last year.
The opening ceremonies honoured the 16 young people who take part in the Youth Ambassadors Program.
Chloe Lemon was named the Youth Ambassador this year, and she will take an official role in community events, including Christmas in Pitt Meadows and Canada Day.
The only regret might have been the drone show, which was grounded due to airline issues in Eastern Canada.
"While we were disappointed the drone show could not go ahead as planned due to unexpected travel delays, we are already exploring options to bring this exciting feature to Pitt Meadows later this summer," said MacDonald.
