More than 40 local farmers showed up to the inaugural meeting of the Ridge Meadows Farmers Institute on Sept. 14.

After recently hosting its inaugural meeting, the newly formed Ridge Meadows Farmers Institute is now ready to form its first board of directors and begin bringing together local farmers to help secure the future of agriculture in Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows.

During the upcoming Nov. 16 meeting, the Ridge Meadows Farmers Institute will officially welcome its first members and then elect a few board members to lead the direction of the group.

"We believe that no one in Maple Ridge or Pitt Meadows should ever be without access to food, and our collective voice will work towards protecting and promoting sustainable farming for generations to come," said the Ridge Meadows Farmers Institute.

Anyone who joins the organization at the meeting will be entitled to vote for the new directors, with not only farmers eligible to join the group.

Membership to the Ridge Meadows Farmers Institute for the 2025 year can be acquired with a $100 cheque payable to Ridge Meadows Farmers Institute.

The meeting and board of directors vote takes place at Pitt Meadows Heritage Hall on Saturday, Nov. 16, at 9 a.m.

In order to attend, be sure to RSVP by emailing ridgemeadowsfarmersinstitute@gmail.com.
