It's election day in Canada, and it's time for residents in the riding of Pitt Meadows-Maple Ridge to cast their ballot.
A new federal government is expected to be named tonight, as Canada’s 2025 snap election gets underway.
The nation's 45th federal election was called on March 23, amid a trade war with the United States. Since the writ was dropped the country's main political parties have been campaigning for the 343 seats in the House of Commons including Mark Carney’s Liberals, Pierre Poilievre’s Conservatives, Jagmeet Singh’s New Democrats, Elizabeth May and Jonathan Pednault’s Greens, Yves-François Blanchet’s Bloc Quebecois, and Maxime Bernier’s People’s Party of Canada.
Polls are open in British Columbia from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. PST today.
