Now that it's October, many local groups will soon start up their various Halloween-themed experiences, with the Maple Ridge Museum being one of the first to do so with their The Dead of Night fundraiser on Oct. 11 and 12.

This annual event takes visitors through Haney House on a ghost-hunting expedition led by members of the professional paranormal investigation team Cornerstone Supernatural.

The tours last an hour and a half and go over some of the darker parts of the history surrounding Haney House.

Guests will also get to see and even use some of the tools that Cornerstone Supernatural utilizes to help detect supernatural phenomena.

"Just in time for Halloween, Cornerstone Supernatural and Maple Ridge Museum bring you an eerie evening of fun at Haney House," wrote the museum.

New tours start every half hour between the hours of 6 and 9 p.m., with tours suitable for all ages, although the museum recommends that families with younger children choose one of the earlier time slots.

Tickets for the ghost-hunting experience are $30 each, with all of the money going to the Maple Ridge Historical Society to help them in their pursuit of preserving local heritage sites.

Anyone wanting to participate in this spooky event on Oct. 11 or 12 can purchase tickets at mapleridgemuseum.org/ghosthunting
