Maple Ridge adding new features to Whonnock Lake playground

Playground closed during construction, slated for completed at the end of December

The City of Maple Ridge is planning new playground equipment for the popular facilities at Whonnock Lake.

The city says it plans to make the playground both more accessible for children of all abilities, and more engaging.

The playground and the immediate surrounding area will be closed during construction, until the end of December.

Some of the additional playground structure with spiral slide, side by side slide, net climber, xylophone, and ground level play feature.

• A new playground structure will be added with a spiral slide, a spider web climber, a xylophone, and ground-level play component.

• Main sand surfacing replaced with wood fibre.

• Small sand area to now include accessible sand digger, sand station, and dinosaur diggable features.

• Improvements to the wheelchair accessible sand table.

The existing swing set and wooden climbing structures will be retained.
