Maple Ridge city hall is inviting residents to share their ideas for a new neighbourhood park being developed in Silver Valley.
In future, the park at 13650 232A Street will offer a variety of neighbourhood amenities informed by public feedback.
The first phase of community engagement is designed to gather input on what features residents would most like to see. Feedback will directly shape the park’s design and amenities.
Those interested in providing input are invited to complete a survey, attend the open house, or contact the project team directly.
The survey deadline is Feb. 13. It is available online at Engage.MapleRidge.ca and in print upon request at Engage@MapleRidge.ca or 604-466-4300 (dial 4 and extension 5305).
The survey asks questions like what would you like to do in this park, listing suggestions such as picnic, play sports, or walk dogs. It suggests possible amenities such as a sports court, sledding hill, and walking paths.
The open house is an opportunity to discuss the project with city staff and participate in an interactive park planning activity. That will be on Feb. 4, from 4-7 p.m. at the Eagles Hall, 23461 132 Ave.
Phase two of community engagement is planned for this summer, and will invite residents to provide feedback on the park design concept.
Spanning approximately one acre, the park site has a gently sloping terrain, and is surrounded by beautiful natural areas, including a conservation area to the north and access to the Silver Valley trail system to the east.
The park will be designed to serve as an accessible neighbourhood hub and green space for residents within a short five-minute walking distance, providing recreation opportunities close to homes.
