Maple Ridge council has given its support for the new Patch Brewery, just across 128th Avenue from the Laity Pumpkin Patch.

The new "farm to glass" brewery will be located at 12745 Laity St., at a farm and brewery operation where they are doing everything from growing their own barley to selling "Rooted in Maple Ridge" Patch Brewery shirts.

Council is required to review the application for the lounge there, which would run from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily. The Patch Brewery has a seating capacity of 198, indoors and on a patio, and in addition to beer will be retailing artisan pizza, salads, charcuterie boards and other snacks. They will also offer gluten-free and vegetarian options, craft sodas, and more.

The Liquor and Cannabis Regulation Branch needs to hear the endorsement from local government, and council offered their support at the July 23rd council meeting, in a unanimous vote.

A report from city staff noted that the closest liquor primary licensed premises would be The Ranch Pub and Grill, almost 3 km away.

City staff noted the RCMP had no issues with the application. Also, the city sent 46 informational letters to land owners and residents withing 200m of the site, and there were no responses received back.

The application will go to the Liquor and Cannabis Regulation Branch for approval.
