The Maple Ridge Eagles Aerie has been spreading Christmas cheer in the form of six recent donations of $5,000 each to community organizations serving Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows.

The club presented cheques for $5,000 each of:

• Salvation Army Ridge Meadows Ministries

• Maple Ridge-Pitt Meadows Community Services Meals on Wheels program

• Maple Ridge-Pitt Meadows Christmas Hamper Society

• Christmas Haven Project, which offers a community Christmas Eve dinner and event

• Children of the Street, which is a project by Plea Community Services

• Alisa's Wish program, which supports child victims of abuse.

Eagles spokesperson Kathie Rodway noted the organization did not disappear with the sale of its Eagles Hall property. The group still rents the hall for monthly community dinners, and routinely has more than 70 people attend. Through these dinners, the Eagles still raise funds to donate to the community.

This $30,000 worth of community support was offered in October and November.
