Paving is expected to be completed by October.

As summer nears so does paving work at various locations across Maple Ridge.

The city has rolled out a list of their upcoming projects for the annual road rehabilitation program where they repair pavement and do proactive maintenance to extend the life span of existing roads.

There are 27 priority sections of road that will be milled and repaved.

“We understand that roadwork can be inconvenient, but it’s essential,” said Mayor Dan Ruimy.

“Whether you’re commuting to work, biking to school, or running errands, smooth and reliable roads make a big difference. They’re also vital for our emergency responders to reach people quickly when every second counts. This is about getting the fundamentals right, keeping our city moving safely and efficiently,” he said.

The program is funded through the city’s Capital Program and is part of the city’s Strategic Priority – to build a livable community through the infrastructure renewal and replacement program which maintains 500 kilometres of road network in a cost-effective and sustainable manner.

Work at select locations will be scheduled during evenings and weekends to minimize traffic impacts, said the mayor, and work at locations around nearby schools will be scheduled during the summer months.

During the paving work, there will be traffic control and construction workers on site, and people are advised to slow down and respect the instructions of the safety personnel as the work is completed.

Some traffic disruptions during paving operations will be publicized through the city’s website news and social media platforms.

“Keeping our roads in good condition is a critical investment in our city’s infrastructure to ensure our roads are safe and reliable,” explained Kirk McLeod, the city's superintendent of roads and fleet.

“Every effort will be made to minimize disruptions and noise; however, we thank people in advance for their cooperation and patience as we make these important improvements,” added McLeod.

Paving projects will be completed by October 2025.
