New Pitt Meadows public washrooms target for vandalism, graffiti

Increase in nuisance crime at Harris Road Park washrooms

Vandals have hit the new washrooms at Harris Road Park in Pitt Meadows.

The City of Pitt Meadows is asking parents to talk to their kids about vandalism and graffiti.

Those two problems, generally linked to young people, have been rearing their ugly heads at the new Harris Road Park washroom facilities, on and around the building.

"City staff are working hard to keep this facility clean, safe, and welcoming, but we’re encouraging residents to help by speaking with their children and youth about respecting public spaces," said a statement from the city communications department.

They are also asking residents to report any suspicious activity to the Ridge Meadows RCMP non-emergency line at 604-465-2402.

A series of photos posted by the city in social media on June 30, which were blurred so the graffiti could not be seen or read, shows the washrooms were extensively hit by the vandals.

"We are asking the community to work together with city staff to help keep our facilities graffiti-free so that we can continue to keep this washroom open during its regular hours,"  said the online post.
