Party in Spirit Square on Canada Day in Pitt Meadows

The Contingency Band will play Canada Day in Pitt Meadows.

Pitt Meadows is planning a Canada Day celebration on July 1 in Spirit Square.

The free family event will run from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., starting with a Lions Club pancake breakfast.

That will be followed by a dog show and sniffing competition from 9:15 to 10 a.m., with recognition in the categories of best dressed, best trick, most charismatic, and waggiest tail.

The event will feature a show and shine, artisan alley, a kids zone, entertainment on the stage, and food vendors.

The stage schedule is:

10 a.m. Norden the Magician
11 a.m. Opening Ceremony
11:45 a.m. Peter G-G
12:15 p.m. Watermelon eating contest
1:15 p.m. The Contingency Band
