One person has been rescued from the Fraser River at Maple Ridge on Monday morning, Nov. 4.
At approximately 10:45 a.m. emergency personnel were treating the person, who was pulled from the river by a witness, said the Ridge Meadows RCMP, near the Port Haney Wharf.
Police said they got a call at around 10:25 a.m. of a report of a marine incident in the area of 223 Street and River Road in Maple Ridge.
When they arrived on scene they noted, one person had fallen into the river and was unresponsive in the water.
Firefighters and paramedics, who also responded to the call, carried the person across the tracks, where paramedics did CPR on the victim near the Port Haney Train Station.
An eyewitness said the person had been in the water for at least five minutes.
BC Emergency Health Services, (BCEHS), said they responded to a call about a person in need of medical assistance and an ambulance with primary care paramedics and an ambulance with advanced care paramedics responded to the scene.
Paramedics provided emergency medical treatment to one patient who was transported to hospital in serious condition, said BCEHS.
