Pitt Meadows ranked eighth most livable city in Canada.

The City of Pitt Meadows has been selected as one of the best places to live in the country.

The city announced that it has been chosen as the eighth most livable city in Canada for 2024 in a survey conducted by a national media outlet – which is up from ninth place last year.

The improved ranking is validation for those at city hall, and was recently featured in the city's social media.

“Being ranked as Canada’s eighth most livable city for 2024 is an incredible honour and a reflection of the commitment of our residents, businesses, staff, and council to creating a thriving community,” said Mayor Nicole MacDonald.

The survey included 448 communities across the country. Three B.C. cities were ranked in the top three: First North Vancouver, second West Vancouver, and third Victoria. Winnipeg came in fourth, and Saskatchewan cities Regina and Saskatoon fifth and sixth respectively. Seventh went to Calgary, ninth Penticton, and Oakville, Ontario, rounded out the top 10.

Maple Ridge was ranked 51st in the survey, which included such considerations as climate, health care, safety, transportation, housing and the economy.

“Factors such as affordability, access to green spaces, community safety and economic opportunity make Pitt Meadows a unique and desirable place to call home," said MacDonald.

"We are fortunate to enjoy a balance of rural charm and urban convenience, with a deep connection to nature and a strong sense of belonging. Council remains dedicated to tackling challenges like housing affordability, infrastructure upgrades and climate resilience, while continuing to prioritize the well-being of our residents."
