Pitt Meadows motorcycle crash claims a life

70-year-old driver hit median on Golden Ears Way

An elderly man is dead after a fatal motorcycle crash in Pitt Meadows on Wednesday evening.

Ridge Meadows RCMP reported that the incident occurred at approximately 6:40 p.m. on Golden Ears Way, with the motorcycle losing control and colliding with the centre median.

The motorcycle was driven by a 70-year-old Langley male, who passed away at the scene despite life-saving measures taken by paramedics.

According to some eyewitnesses, the motorcycle was travelling northbound on Golden Ears Way when he crashed and was thrown off the vehicle.

Insp. Adam Gander of the Ridge Meadows RCMP said that members of the Investigational Support Team, Serious Crimes Unit, and Integrated Collision Analysis Reconstruction Team were called to the scene to assist with the investigation, with all lanes on Golden Ears Way being shut down for several hours after the crash.
