A 78-year-old woman died after a head-on collision on the Maple Ridge-Mission border on Tuesday night (Dec. 3).
According to a Mission RCMP, initial evidence suggests a grey Pontiac Wave was travelling south and crossed the centre line in the 11600-block of Wilson Street and collided head-on with a grey Ford Escape.
First responders attended the scene at approximately 5 p.m. but the 78-year-old Pontiac driver from Mission died on the scene as a result of her injuries.
Meanwhile, the 76-year-old woman driving the Ford suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
"It has not been determined why the driver of the Pontiac crossed the centre line," Mission RCMP said.
Wilson Street was closed on Tuesday night as a result of the crash but it has since reopened.
Mission RCMP's traffic services unit and the Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (ICARS) are investigating the crash.
Those with information are urged to contact Mission RCMP at 604-826-7161.
